Over the past year, Wildwood has continued to hire new employees that work hard and embody our organization’s values. As the pandemic has made it difficult to get to know one another “face to face,” we’d like to introduce a few of the new staff members that help make Wildwood all that it is. They are Mark W. Normandin, Quill Murphy and Heather Giorgianni. Find out more about these new hires, their backgrounds and their roles in Wildwood by clicking the read more button.

Mark W. Normandin – Strategic Director of Facilities

Mark joined Wildwood in February 2020 as the Strategic Director of Facilities. He worked in the manufacturing sector for the past 23 years, where he held numerous management and engineering roles. Mark holds an A.A.S. Degree in Civil Engineering from Hudson Valley Community College and a B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering from Rochester Institute of Technology. He wanted to shift his career towards an organization that “served people” – leading him to Wildwood. As the Strategic Director of Facilities, Mark is responsible for hiring, training, and managing the performance of Wildwood’s maintenance and facilities teams. He is a member of various committees, and responsible for overseeing all maintenance and facilities staff and contractors – overseeing the day-to-day operations and ensuring the maintenance of all locations. He works with the CFO to develop, plan, budget, design, and administer all facility improvements. When it comes to working with Wildwood staff and the people we serve, he says it has been “a great experience.” Mark lives in Clifton Park with his wife and their two children (and two cats).

Quill Murphy – Training Administrator

Quill Murphy (they/them) started at Wildwood in November 2020 as the Training Administrator within the Staff Training and Development team. Quill received their Bachelor’s Degree from Siena College, where they majored in English with a minor in Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies. Having worked in the human services field for approximately seven years, most recently working under the Office of Mental Health, Quill is now part of Wildwood’s amazing training team, and is looking forward to meeting everyone through annual refreshers and certification. “I am so thankful to be here at Wildwood, and wish to be for many years to come!” says Quill. Outside of work, they enjoy crocheting and crafting, baking, and playing tabletop RPGs with their friends and fiancée.

Heather Giorgianni – Director of Community and Individualized Supports

While Heather Giorgianni is not a new face within Wildwood, she has transitioned into a new role over the past year. Heather came to Wildwood with a strong background in the human services field. She received her Master’s Degree in Teaching for Middle and Secondary Grades at Quinnipiac University (I will forever have a soft spot for middle school aged youth!” she says), but professionally she has worked in various human services positions across the Capital Region. Some of these previous jobs include: case manager for pregnant and parenting teens in Schenectady County; Parsons Child and Family Center Service Coordinator for youth in foster care diagnosed with serious emotional disturbances and developmental disabilities; and working at Ellis Hospital on the Inpatient Adolescent Psychiatric Unit – something she credits as a powerful learning experience around mental health, dual diagnosis, and socioeconomic factors.

Heather started at Wildwood in 2015, when she was hired to work in the NYS Promise Program assisting low-income families who had children with a developmental or learning disability. In 2018, she became the Coordinator of Respite and Reimbursement, before taking on her new and current position as the Director of Community and Individualized Supports in July 2020. As the director, she oversees the Family Reimbursement Grant, In-Home Respite Department, and Community Habilitation Department. The Family Reimbursement Grant assists around 300 families every year with expenses they incur while taking care of a loved one with IDD. The In-Home Respite Department serves over 45 individuals and has over 40 DSPs committed to helping those families. The Community Habilitation Department services over 95 individuals, and has over 55 DSPs committed to assisting individuals attain and maintain their independence.  

Of her time at Wildwood, she says: “Shortly after I arrived, I knew I didn't want to leave this agency. From day one at Wildwood, I was incredibly impressed by how the various departments worked together. Everyone willingly thinks about how they can help another department grow and succeed in our ultimate goal of helping our community. It is incredibly motivating to work in this environment.”

 In addition, Wildwood has also hired new staff members for our residential and day programs. Some of these new-hires include Andi Koba, a manager at our Castleton Residence; Sean Schorer, a supervisor at our Delmar residence; Jessica Pauling Payne, a supervisor at our Latham supportive housing; and Amber Cole, a manager for Latham apartments.
