In an effort to keep people as safe and healthy as possible, the Walk for Wildwood is making the move to being a virtual event in 2020. While the format has changed, the cause remains the same – people will be able to participate in this annual fundraising event at their own pace, and connect with the Wildwood community online.
The Walk for Wildwood will be held Friday, September 25, through Wednesday, September 30. Those participating in the Walk are able to pick the time and location within this period that works for them – walking can be done in a local park, down the street, or even on a treadmill. It can be 30 minutes, or 30 miles! The idea is to get active and celebrate Wildwood while staying safe and social distancing. This year a variety of new initiatives are being introduced, hoping to foster independent and team participation and accommodate those with varying abilities and comfort levels. In addition to giveaways, Walk for Wildwood registrants have the option to participate in the “Walk A Mile in My Shoes” Art and Coloring Contest, and the Community Scavenger Hunt!
Registration for the Walk is live: visit www.firstgiving.com/wildwood for more details and to sign up! On the registration page, you’ll also find links to Frequently Asked Questions, and the downloadable coloring page for the “Walk A Mile in My Shoes” Art Contest. Details for the new Community Scavenger Hunt will be unveiled on September 25 – the Hunt will take place across the Capital Region, and get people out and about to compete for prizes and cross things off a community-based list.
RSVP to the Walk for Wildwood Facebook Event (found at www.facebook.com/WildwoodPrograms) to stay up-to-date with on all the Walk details and to find more ways to get involved! Questions or comments? Email firstname.lastname@example.org. We may not be able to physically gather this year, but we can still connect and come together as a community to cheer one another on as we cross that virtual finish line!
