Congratulations to Wildwood School’s Educational Technology Specialist, Mark Giufre, for being honored with the International Society for Technology in Education’s Making IT Happen award.
The Making IT Happen award is presented to "outstanding educators and leaders who demonstrate extraordinary commitment, leadership, courage and persistence in improving digital learning opportunities for students". ISTE describes its award recipients as educators who apply available technology now, move forward and don't look back, see students as real people and teach through relationships.
Mark leads the development and use of technology at school, finding new applications for technology to better the lives of students and to help teachers connect with them using technology strategies. Mark has designed virtual reality programs to help students with life skills like safety in the external world, work site tasks and with transitions in their lives. Teachers work hand in hand with Mark to design creative ways to enhance students' abilities to meet their goals, both in the classroom and beyond. Wildwood is fortunate to have Mark’s creativity improving the connections between teachers and their students.
Along with the wonderful work Mark does at Wildwood, he also serves as social media lead for the New York State Association for Computers and Technologies in Education. We congratulate Mark on this exceptional honor that is only awarded to 24 professionals worldwide each year.
