The Employment Specialist provides employment counseling and on-the-job training for individuals with learning disabilities, neurological impairments and developmental disabilities by performing the following duties. Other duties may be assigned.
• Collects, organizes, and analyzes information about consumers through records, tests, interviews, and professional sources, to appraise their interests, aptitudes, abilities, and personality characteristics, for employment planning.
• Provides one-to-one and/or small group job training on the job site.
• Provides crisis intervention as assigned/needed when a consumer is experiencing difficulties on the job site.
• Models appropriate/acceptable social and work skills.
A Bachelor's Degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university, or four years experience working with people with disabilities, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Daily access to an automobile is required. A valid New York State Driver’s License and ability to drive and driving record acceptable for agency insurance coverage are required.
