We are looking for individuals to work as a Paid neighbor for the people we serve in Saratoga and Cohoes region. The employee will reside at a property that is functionally located for purposes of providing appropriate, timely and responsive supports that ensure an individual’s safety and optimal access to community living. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Reside at a property that is geographically near or next to an individual who requires support or supervision. Supports the individual’s Individual Service Plan as a way to promote a safe and independent lifestyle in the community as possible. Will be available during overnight hours (11pm – 7am, unless noted otherwise in contract) to an individual in the event of an emergency. Implements emergency procedures established by the agency, family, circle of support as applicable and necessary. Reports unique or emergency medical conditions of individual(s) to the family, circle of support and agency personnel and any other necessary people as applicable.
High school diploma or general education degree (GED). A valid NYS driver's license and ability to drive and driving record acceptable for agency insurance coverage are required. Daily access to a vehicle. Must be cleared and maintain acceptable record under the NYS OPWDD mandated criminal background check process. A paid neighbor will live in a residence located purposely to adequately and responsively meet the needs of an individual supports; it must be the primary and sole residence of the employee/paid neighbor.
