DSP-Community Hab and/or Family Respite Albany County
Direct Support Professional
We are looking for people to work part time in our Community Hab and/or Family Respite. The positions below are in Albany County. Family Respite Responsibilities: Do you like having fun? Do you want to work with children or young adults? Through your work, you could forge lasting friendships while inspiring and acting as a role model. We are looking for sociable, caring, dynamic individuals to provide support to families. In this program, you would be carefully matched with a family whose child has similar interests to your own and lives close by. In a given week, most staff work 5-15 hours, depending on their availability and the needs of the family. A normal shift typically consists of guiding an individual through a routine, such as homework or dinner time and/or spending some downtime with leisure activities all the while promoting the development of social skills and providing companionship. Community Hab Responsibilities: Would you like to help enhance growth and community interaction of an individual with neurological impairments, learning disabilities, or autism? Are you a sociable, caring person who enjoys community and recreational activities? Community habilitation may be the perfect fit for you. In community habilitation, you would work one-on-one in the individual’s home and in the community to achieve a variety of meaningful life skills including social, recreational, and other activities of daily living. A typical schedule would be about 5-15 hours per week. During shifts, individuals may want to go to the movies, grocery shopping, sport events, work on social skills, and do other healthy activities.
Family Respite Qualifications: NYS license and access to own vehicle depending on family need. High school diploma or general education degree (GED). Community Hab Qualifications: NYS license and access to own vehicle. High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
