Best Practices in Autism Intervention

The Sage Colleges are pleased to present the first annual Autism conference to the local community.  The theme of the 2013 conference is "Best Practices in Autism Intervention," and we welcome Dr. Bill Ahearn of the New England Children's Center as our keynote speaker.

This full-day conference will present dynamic speakers from the Sage Esteves School of Education faculty, as well as other leaders in autism treatment and research.  Speakers will be organized along tracks in concurrent sessions, so that a variety of topics relevant to autism at all ages and levels of ability will be presented throughout the day.

Conference Fees:

  • $25 : Student
  • $40 : Parent or Professionals
  • $80 : BCBAs who are getting Continuing Education credits*
  • Vendors: $100 per table
* This conference provides 6 professional development hours for teachers. These hours may be used to fulfill licensing or certification requirements. This conference provides up to 6 hours of continuing education for Board Certified Behavior Analysts (ACE provider #OP-11-2111).

Strategies and Tools For Caregivers That Promote Independence

 

Please join us as Kim Sumner, M. A., Wildwood Programs In Home Behavior Support Specialist, presents strategies and tools for caregivers that will enable children to become more independent in life skills that are relevant to their developmental age.

 

Ms. Sumner will describe specific strategies related to toilet training, hygiene, social boundaries and social competencies, and body awareness. She will explain the use of prompts and fading and provide a power point with relevant websites and examples.

This focus of this training is for parents, families and support staff.
